As always, last night's Oscars have caused a huge buzz. Huge congratulations to all of the fantastic films that were recognised with nominations and awards, although we are particularly thrilled at Frances McDormand's Best Actress win for her performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. We show a lot a great films here at No6, but this has been a personal highlight.
Cleverly coinciding with International Women’s day this Thursday, Hedy Lemarr: Bombshell shows that she wasn’t just a pretty Hollywood icon. She was a clever, inventive, and gifted individual and with not one dissenting comment about this film on Rotten Tomatoes, that must make it first and a must! Please Note the start time of 6.30pm, not 7pm as stated in the programme.
Real life sisters Catherine Deneuve and Francoise Dorleac star in Les Demoiselles De Rochefort on Friday evening. As part of our musicals season we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to screen a french classic of the genre could we. With music by Michel Legrand and choreography by Norman Maen it is worthy of it’s place in our homage to the art of the musical.
The dreaded 'beast from the east' scuppered our plans to show Get Out last Friday, but fear not, as we will now be showing the Oscar-winning film on Saturday at 4.15pm.
Early Man has been described as a cross between ‘Gladiator and Dodgeball’ and is the long overdue comeback by Aardman Animations. Refreshing, delightful and fun it will brighten your Saturday night!
