Nick Silk’s documentary celebrates Southsea and its cold swimming community. Told through his special lens on life - Swim Bold Swim Cold - is a nine month study of cold swimming: the spirit of time and place.
Nick has filmed, written, directed and produced his first film in the place he grew up.
Come and celebrate the beauty and joy of the moment in our stunning seaside home. A touching and candid film: authentic and real. This story is personal for Nick. He begins and documents his own cold swimming journey.
The swimmers’ personal stories and awesome environment of Southsea and Eastney beaches engage beautifully from sunrise to sunset in the icy water.
It is a story that will resonate especially with every cold swimmer who swims in the open water and those who love authentic human stories. Nick - a life long artist - loves and has been recognised for his street photography in a major London exhibition. He includes his homage to the cold swimmers of Southsea who were the inspiration for his film.
Nick shares his obsession - capturing the moment. Swim Bold Swim Cold explores the science and critical safety advice: the real risks and benefits advice of cold water immersion with expert advice from our home town university’s world renowned expert - Prof Mike Tipton from the University of Portsmouth.
