How lovely, spring almost seems to be upon us, what a relief. However, that doesn’t mean that you can abandon No6 and disappear off to the beach, we still have some really great films for you over the next couple of months. Some Like it Hot, Lawrence of Arabia, Grease, Alfie, The Dam Busters, The Goonies and My Neighbour Totoro are our special summer treats from the old school, and from the new school; Isle of Dogs, Black Panther, On Chesil Beach plus many more. The paper programmes will be available next week, but in the meantime if you want to find out what shape the summer film programme is in - take a look at the What's On page.
Wednesday night is RSC Shakespeare night and suddenly I see a dagger before me, its handle towards my hand…..three guesses…. and yes, you guessed it, we have Macbeth. Niamh Cusack and Christopher Eccleston head up a very strong cast in this contemporary rendition of that play.
Nick Cave and his Bad Seeds have been together for 34 years so they pretty much know what they are doing now. This concert filmed in Copenhagen last year will be screened for one night and one night only so don’t miss your chance to see this film which has achieved the almost impossible task of making you feel as though you were really there. Tickets are selling fast so please don’t be disappointed by not booking in advance.
Please note we will have a photographer on site on Thursday taking some publicity shots, avoid his lens if you don’t want to be snapped.
Yay, it’s Friday 13th this week so we are celebrating with the classic 1973 film Don’t Look Now. Based on the Daphne Du Maurier story, Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie play out the most authentic portrait of a marriage ever. I’m not going to wear my red coat.
and I’m not going to witter on about Lady Bird….just see it on Saturday night.
