Drawn to the Big Screen: Comic Book Artists on Their Cinematic Influences.
Artist Kremena Dimitrova has selected SIN CITY and will be introducing the film.
Join us this autumn for a season of films selected by local comic book artists and devoted to exploring the vibrant creative links between comics and film. Epic and spectacular, introspective and taboo-breaking - cinema and comics have enjoyed a long, mutually enriching and lucrative relationship over the years. If much discussion continues to revolve around Hollywood's thirst for the next spandex-clad crusader, "comic book films" are hardly uniform in their approach to theme, narrative and character, offering as diverse an array of representations as the source materials that inspire them. And the relationship goes both ways. From noir fictions to political dramas, our invited artists discuss the impact cinema had upon their own creative work and upon comic books in general. With live introductions and example comics on display, prepare for a visual extravaganza!
Welcome to Sin City. This town beckons to the tough, the corrupt, the brokenhearted. Some call it dark... Hard-boiled. Then there are those who call it home -- Crooked cops, sexy dames, desperate vigilantes. Some are seeking revenge, others lust after redemption, and then there are those hoping for a little of both. A universe of unlikely and reluctant heroes still trying to do the right thing in a city that refuses to care.
